The 2024 AI Roadmap: Course, Coaching, Community + More

Hey Reader,

Back in October – decades ago by AI standards – we asked our audience of tens of thousands of AI enthusiasts for feedback on our Innovating with AI Signature Course. We got 400+ responses, and we’ve spent the last few months poring over every single one.

Our students told us they loved how the course combined theoretical knowledge, practical skills, community support, business insights, and personal development to help them level up their careers and launch their AI products and processes in 30 days.

And they gave us tons of new ideas – things we could add or improve to make the program even better.

If you were one of the hundreds who responded to the survey, I want to take a moment to thank you. I know you have a full plate and it isn’t easy to set aside time in your day to give detailed and thoughtful feedback, and I really appreciate you going the extra mile for me.

I also want you to know that your feedback shapes everything I do at Innovating with AI. And I’ve taken it all to heart and mapped out some incredible improvements for 2024...some of which are coming this month.

Yup, we’re about instant implementation around here, and not just because AI is moving at the speed of light, but also because of one of the biggest questions many of you had, which is…

“How do I know IWAI won’t go out of date?”

It’s a fair question.

Case in point: All those cheap courses people sold last year about creating your own chatbot – they’ve been displaced by GPTs and Assistants and are now basically useless.

That’s just one example – I could list a ton of others, but the point is that it would be impossible for almost any educator to create a curriculum that doesn’t quickly go out of style.

That’s why here at IWAI, we have a 5-point plan to make sure that doesn’t happen.

Part 1 - The Curriculum: It’s like software with monthly updates…

For the past 11 months, we’ve been informally updating and improving our signature course. But now, with over 20,000 of you that joined our email list over the last few weeks, we’re stepping it up even further.

Here’s what’s coming your way this month.

1.1 New tutorials on the most important no-code tools

We've recorded a suite of brand new tutorials and examples to help you master the best no-code AI tools. This includes automation software like Zapier and Make.com (as well as how to decide which one is best for you), app builders like Bubble.io and WeWeb.io, and an even deeper look at OpenAI’s new no-code solutions.

These tutorials are new as of this month, so they’ll give you a fresh look at the software that you’ll be using to prototype your AI idea as you work through the course.

1.2 Exercises, assessments and certification

We’re also adding brand-new assessments and exercises to every module of the course, so you’ll be able to quickly apply what you learned and check to make sure you’re understanding everything correctly. This also ensures you are “locking in” your new knowledge by using it in real life right away – rather than spending too much time in the realm of theory.

And when you complete the course, you’ll get a formal Innovating with AI Certification that you can show to clients, employers and colleagues to prove that you’ve completed our rigorous curriculum. Your resumé and LinkedIn profile are about to get a big upgrade.

Part 2 - The Live Experience…

2.1 Live training

The #1 request you shared with us was to focus even more on teaching the newest material as quickly as possible. That’s why our live experience is getting a huge upgrade this year.

Every month, Innovating with AI students will get access to brand-new trainings with me, both live and recorded.

We’ll cover all the most recent developments, demo new software and tools, and make sure you’re never left behind – and that your investment never goes out of date.

The live experience doesn’t stop “in the classroom” though. You’re invited VERY ENCOURAGED to continue the conversation in…

2.2 Mentorship and coaching

In addition to the ongoing training and curriculum updates we’re providing for all students, we’re also offering new opportunities to get extra live, personalized coaching with me as you build your AI product or process.

This includes small-group sessions (five people or less) as well as a special one-on-one mentorship program where I’ll work side by side with you to shepherd your idea from concept to customers.

2.3 The Community

If you’re already an IWAI member, then you’ve already seen how we keep hundreds of students up to date in our 24/7 Slack community.

We’ll be doing more of that, and then some, especially since I’ve seen the networking and partnership opportunities that have organically happened between students. It’s exciting, and I have more things in the works that I can’t reveal just yet, but … stay tuned 🙂.

2024 Is Your Year

It’s hard to believe it’s been nearly a year since we launched the first version of Innovating with AI – since then, the world has transformed, and it’s been thrilling to watch our students reshape their lives and work to take advantage of the next chapter of technology and innovation.

While a ton of folks are running scared from AI, we know that you see the opportunity, but with measured and discerning eyes.

For those of you who are ready to go from vision to action, I have an invitation for you.

Hey Reader, It's hard to see past the chaos in the White House, but I want to share something with you that I told my team a few months ago: When history tells the story of the 2020s, AI will be the main character, and Donald Trump will be a footnote. This week it seems likely that Trump will send his country and several others into a recession. But despite his temporary power and his fame/infamy, he's a small man in a big decade. Our grandkids will be reading history books like this: "In the...

A futuristic energy mix

Hey Reader, It's a big week in energy, growth and center-left thinking because of the release of the new book Abundance by Ezra Klein and Derek Thompson. If you don't know them, they're two of the preeminent columnists and podcasters at The New York Times and The Atlantic. One of the central ideas of the book is that cheap, clean energy is the linchpin of our future growth and success as a society. This is especially true in the realm of AI. Think about it – if we unlocked more cheap, clean...
